“Just Do It” – Say goodbye to fears
For the longest time Iโve been wanting to start my blog and for whatever reason something has kept me from doing it. Iโve had this underlying fear in the back of my mind that always seemed to appear whenever I went to start, procrastination crept in, I doubted myself and would then be stuck at โI donโt even know where to startโ.
Itโs funny though as this is one of the most often asked questions I get when I speak to people about decluttering and re-organizing their spaces.
Where (or how) do I even start?
Clients feel a sense of overwhelm when they look around their space and try to figure out what area to work in first, what category should they start with, what piece or item Will be the catalyst to change.
For me though, I donโt have the same sense of fear when it comes to space and helping people create more organized and peaceful areas.
I have a keen sense of โspatial awarenessโ and know within a very short period of time which area will make the most sense to start and how we will begin.
I do not get the same sense of overwhelm or procrastination when it comes to working with my clients. I see quite clearly the potential for any space, how it could work more efficiently, and immediately get excited for the energy that will radiate once complete.
So, why then havenโt I been able to apply this same unique sense to me starting my blog?
For whatever reason something stops me and I get distracted and then move on to another task or project.
โJust Do Itโ
Just a couple of days ago I attended a local networking meeting (which happened to be a zoom session this week due to the coronavirus) and I asked the group for support and suggestions on how to start my blog.
I shared that I was frustrated with myself that I havenโt created one yet and that my fear of starting (my hands kind of got clammy just talking about it) was paralyzing me from taking the leap.
The group was very supportive and encouraging. They provided stories and examples of why I didnโt have to worry so much, that I wasnโt alone in feeling this way, that I shouldnโt wait any longer and just do it.
I know I need to stop worrying about being perfect in the execution and trust myself more in the process, so this is what I am doing today.
My first post is about the fear of starting and I get it. I hear you when you ask me for guidance with this in your home or office. I know how to help you through this process and I am taking that first step today to kick my fear to the curb.
Iโm saying goodbye to writing procrastination and hello to building a new blogging habit for myself and sharing it with you here.
And, I am here to encourage you to do the same.
I encourage you to put your fear aside to work towards making the change you envision for yourself. Whether that be in creating a more peaceful and serene home for yourself and your family, re-organizing your office space to make it run more efficiently, re-arranging your furniture in your lobby or reception area so itโs more welcoming and open, or ultimately scheduling time for yourself to pamper and take care of yourself.
If you’re ready to say goodbye to fears, you may want to take a look at these easy and effective organization tips to help you get started.
Getting my first blog post up has been a huge stumbling block for me and unfortunately a goal of mine that I have been avoiding for a very long time. And honestly itโs been something that has been bugging me as I know that I could have done this a long time ago, but for whatever reason I didnโt.
So, as I sign off and get ready to hit the โpublishโ button, I want to encourage you again to look at any fear you may have that is keeping you away from your goals and to kick it to the curb.
Find an accountability partner if you need to, share your message with those you trust and โJust Do Itโ!
Iโm here for you along the way.
You got this!
